From March 2011, C.A.R.L., in conjunction with the Letting
Advice Service (LAS), will be hosting a series of Letting Update Courses around
England and Wales to review:
Tenancy Agreements
C.A.R.L. is about to release a new set of tenancy agreements specifically for England and Wales
and there are some subtle, but significant changes to them, which could cause a change in the way ASTs
are used.
Unlike our usual routine of releasing documentation, two different sets of agreements will be released.
During the course we will not only discuss the changes to the agreements, but provide guidance
to ensure every client is getting the best from the agreement and is working to a best-practice model,
thus protecting themselves and their landlords from any unwarranted legal challenges.

Terms of Business
Whilst a key document in any lettings business, many ToBs are woefully inadequate, leaving the
agent vulnerable to a range of challenges. This document, arguably more than any other, should be
customised to reflect the individual business.
During the course we will review the Law of Agency and highlight important considerations every
agent needs to be aware of.
Inventory Management
Legislation impacting the management of deposits has changed significantly in recent years
placing ever greater reliance on documentation such as the inventory, but have you kept up?
The course will explore inventory management, looking at innovations within the market and
providing best practice guidance for agents wanting to stay one step ahead.

The cost for these comprehensive courses is heavily discounted for C.A.R.L. clients.
The standard price for tickets is £150 + VAT, but C.A.R.L. clients pay only
£97 + VAT for one ticket or £77 + VAT for two or more tickets.
You will receive an excellent lunch and refreshments throughout the day, free of charge.
Ticket numbers for these events will be limited, so we would like to encourage you to register your
interest as early as possible.
They courses will all be conducted on Wednesdays, will commence at 9:30 a.m. and the series begins in
early March.
