C.A.R.L. Professional Training
C.A.R.L. Communications Ltd has always provided first-class, professional training to
its clients, to enable full and efficient use of its products, delivered by qualified and highly
experienced trainers.
C.A.R.L. training has always provided excellent value for money and the company never charges
out of pocket expenses or hides the cost of training within an expensive system purchase price. On-site
training is provided by a C.A.R.L. trainer to any number of delegates within the client’s
premises and not charged per delegate.
New Package
In 2011, C.A.R.L. have launched a re-engineered training package, in order to provide even better value
and service to you, with no impact on the cost of the training.
Structured Format
We have always believed that structured training works best for clients and the proof is in the fact that the most efficient agencies have followed the full training programme, which not only enables their full use of the system, but also enables those clients to decrease unnecessary manual processing within their companies, a massive time-saver.
Another major advantage is the prevention of costly errors in accounting and for those who are members
of the industry associations (ARLA, RICS, NALS, etc), this can cost more than just money.
At the same time, full training reduces training-related calls to our Support team, something we are
there for and happy to provide, but something which also impacts the valuable time of busy agencies.
Full training dramatically reduces such calls.
Training Manuals
Each delegate is provided with a training guide, specific for the training day they have booked. Within
the guide are milestones for the areas covered as well as plenty of space for their own notes. Over the
years, we have found that those delegates who refrain from taking their own notes tend to forget much
of what they’ve learned and therefore the guides encourage note-taking.
The Training Ladder
Training is provided in an 8-level format to ensure clients have the opportunity to learn any
and all areas of the system fully.
Telephone Training
The first two levels are telephone- and broadband-based, with each lasting one hour. These sessions are
provided free of charge by a dedicated trainer when the system is initially purchased by
clients and are designed to enable clients to enter the basics of their data, in order to get up and
running as quickly as possible. These are designed as ‘taster sessions’.

On-Site Training
On-site training is delivered by a dedicated trainer to any number of delegates, provided they can fit
comfortably into your premises! Because of the structure of the training ladder, you are asked to
specify your training requirements when booking an on-site training day, so that the correct guides and
certificates can be supplied.
It is recommended that a period of time (usually a month) is allowed to lapse between each training day
to ensure you are able to enter the data required and to absorb the knowledge provided.
There are 6 levels of one-day, on-site training:
Day 1: Introductory Training builds upon the telephone training
you’ve already undertaken and essentially fills in gaps in areas crucial to the integrity of your
database and your efficient use of the system, covering areas such as entering prospective tenants,
managing rent arrears, etc.

Day 2: Intermediate Training – expands your knowledge of the system and
goes into areas such as rent entry, payments to landlords, the creation of tenancy agreements, BACS, an
overview of Client Account Reconciliation, etc.

Day 3: Advanced Training – enables you to become a fully proficient user
of the system, covering end of tenancy requirements, going into the detail of Client Account
Reconciliation, Deposit Account Reconciliation, tax matters, analysis and reporting, etc.

Day 4: C.A.R.L. Accountant – designed for your company bookkeeper or
accountant, or indeed whoever mainly deals with the client accounts, this goes into great detail of all
accounts matters, including landlord, property and tenant accounts, invoicing, receipts and payments,
payment types, reconciliation, etc.

Day 5: Bespoke Training – this is designed for the client who may need to
top up their knowledge, having already undertaken some structured training, or those who only want to
focus on specific areas having already gained experience with the system. Clients are asked to spend
time thinking about the areas they wish to cover before booking this training.

Day 6: Advance Reconciliation Service - Designed to help you comply with
legislation and industry association (ARLA, NALS and RICS) regulations. This is a specialised
service that will also focus on working through your accounts both in the bank and on C.A.R.L., the aim
of which is to ensure that you balance and fully understand the associations’ compliancy
requirements. This is provided by a specialist trainer who is a member of the RICS and includes follow-
up sessions where required.

Aside from Bespoke Training, all training days are specifically structured to
provide a set-level of detail. Each day is timed to start at 10am (in order to allow you time to open
the business, deal with messages and the post, etc) and finish by about 5.30pm (unless there is a
specific reason for the training to continue beyond 5.30pm).
Continual Professional Development (CPD)
Accompanying the training structure are certificates provided to all successful delegates, issued at
the end of each training day. The certificates will provide proof that the client has completed the
training and can therefore be used as part of their associations’ requirements for CPD.
Each training day can provide at least 6 hours of CPD.
